Japan Launches HTV-2 to the ISS
Fighting weather prevented timely launch, Japan successfully sent into space on its second logistics vehicle for the international space station, the HTV-2 (Kounotori-2). H-IIB rocket lifted off from Tanegashima at 05:37 UTC 22 January, and placed its payload into low orbit transfer. With 16 tons in weight, manoeuvrable vehicle full of supplies to the ISS approach, near which is captured by the station's robotic arm and attached to the latter. Before arriving at your destination, the HTV-2 will not make maneuverability demonstrations had to its predecessor. Its interior design has also been optimized to carry more items. After capture, scheduled for 11:44 UTC on January 25, the vehicle must be secured to the complex and will start removing their contents, totaling 4.2 tons. On board were carrying spare parts, experiments, supplies, etc. Two tons were provided by NASA. Remain next to the ISS until 28 March, when sent to their destruction on the Pacific Ocean. (
