The satellite NanoSail-D (D2) deployed as planned and the solar sail beacon was heard by many amateurs around the world. After separation of the satellite at 03:00 UTC FASTSAT January 18 and the three-day countdown, the solar sail vehicle opened at 04:00 UTC on 21 January. His mark would be heard soon after, following the exhaustion of their batteries, but with the work already done, their orbital parameters are known and its position and will now be monitoring the evolution of the orbit, as amended by the Sun's influence on the solar sail. This phase of the mission will last several months and is expected to be collected many pictures of the satellite in space.
